SMA connectors can mate with 2.92mm and & 3.5mm RF connectors: SMA connectors have the same female thread size as 2.92mm, and also have the same male-pin diameter as 2.92.
Mating of SMA connectors with 2.92mm and & 3.5mm RF connectors should be done carefully: A damaged or out of spec SMA can damage a 2.92 or 3.5. With SMA, the pin engages first, the threads second. For 2.92’s & 3.5’s the opposite: Threads mate first, pins second. For very precise measurements, connecting different types of connectors results in a small but measurable discontinuity.
